Motivated by the Chicken Pox

I have been motivated to start my own blog as a way to record the happenings in my family. I always think that I will remember the cute things that my children have said or the fun times that we have had, but I realize that my mind can't hold onto all of these moments. So now I want to start to capture some of those sweet times here.

One of the reasons that his blog is happening today, is the fact that we are home from church with the chicken pox. Not only are we home today, but we have been home for the last six days. To say the least we are all a little stir crazy. We arrived home from a wonderful beach trip on Sunday and we were excited to get back into the swing of life only to find that Monday morning we had the chicken pox. The first few days were great to get projects done around the house and spend special time with the girls. We did crafts, played games, cooked, worked puzzles, read books etc. Tim was so busy getting back to work that our week was quite opposite. He was home very little this week. He had meetings in the evenings and was gone all day Sat. preparing for his mission trip. This was tiring for him and made my days seem even longer. Last night, when the reality hit that I would need to fill another day with activity, despair began to sink in. Not that I don't have more that could be done but I have lost motivation. The girls have not really felt that bad and are still full of energy which is a blessing. At the beginning of the week Abigail was excited to have a "chicken pox party", today she is begging me to let her go to church with Daddy. Most of the spots have faded and tomorrow we will be back into the swing of things wishing we had more time at home (maybe not right away.) I attached some pictures that gives you a glimpse of the last week.

Hey, good idea!! We had no idea you all were scratching away this week. This is a good idea (if you can find the time to keep it up!). By the way, I couldn't find any pictures attached (yet, anyway).

My chicken pox memory is still quite vivid -- even after all these years. It was in the spring of my fourth grade year. I was not allowed to compete in the City track meet. I had won the dashes every year and, of course, expected to do so again. I was not a happy camper.

I'll look for the next post.

I don't remember much about the chicken pox, but I must have been in lst of 2nd grade. I do remember that I was pink all over - just like the picture of Elizabeth. I should have put a book in Rebekah's package about the chicken pox - it is little so I'll just get an envelope. Hope that Mom will get to go to church tonight and leave Daddy at home with the pox! Love, Gray Gray

Hoping that today, Monday, you will be able to get out. I remember those days of staying in with sick ones. I had chicken pox when I was nine. I was so sick that my Mom rocked me. I was a little large for that, but I was so glad that she did. We loved the pictures. So glad that you are doing this blog. Love to all of you, Bebe
